2023: Odiuko leads other candidates at Owerri Archdiocesan Town Hall meeting

As political office seekers participated in the just concluded Town Hall meeting by the office of Justice, Development, Peace and Caritas JDPC, Catholic Archdioces of Owerri, the APGA Senatorial Candidate for Owerri zone, Bar. Chyma Anthony Odiuko has been rated as the most competent among those seeking to represent Owerri zone in the senate after this year’s general election.
The rating was done by some political Analysts who are fully aware of the situation of Owerri and what the people need from their representatives, to attract development in the zone
The analysts also considered the antecedents of the senatorial candidates of Owerri zone, their manifestos and composure during the Town Hall.
They rated as most competent the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance in Imo East( Owerri zone) senatorial district, Chyma Anthony.
According to them, Barrister Chyma Anthony has shown that he is going to the Senate to fight for the people; ensuring equal rights between the leaders and the led.
This he demonstrated by saying that he would work for the repealing of immunity clause for president, his vice, governors and deputies if he emerges the next senator for the district.
Anthony who spoke on Sunday during his presentation at the town hall meeting, reiterated that the immunity clause was strengthening corruption in the country.
The APGA candidate who regretted a situation whereby the president, his vice, a governor or his deputy would wait for four or eight years before he answers for a crime he committed, maintained that such immunity was not good for the country.
“One of the reasons I am aspiring to go to the senate is to work for the abolition of the immunity clause for presidents, their vice, governors and deputies in Nigeria.
“Immunity clause is encouraging corruption. That a president or governor in Nigeria has to wait for four or eight years before he answers for a crime he committed is not good. Once I go to the senate, I will liaise with other senators to repeal the law so that a president or governor will answer for his crime while still in office.” the Senatorial Candidate maintained.

On his plans for Imo East, the United Kingdom trained legal practitioner, said that he would ensure that his constituents got their due from the federal government.
Decrying spates of bad roads across the zone, the Odiuko assured that he would work closely with federal government’s road construction and maintenance ministry and agencies to fix the bad roads in the zone.
Anthony who promised to establish constituency offices in the nine Local Government Areas in the zone, promised to prioritise education, too.
He said ”I have been to all parts of Owerri zone in the cause of my campaigns. I have seen the bad road network. I have been to Emeabiam community in Owerri west. Their road network is bad. I have been to Ahiazu Mbaise and even Ikeduru where I come from. Once I go to the senate, I will make it priority.
” I will work closely with all the relevant federal government agencies in this regard. We will ensure that the roads are fixed. By God’s grace, when I win we will make it a priority and we will bring government closer to my people by investing in education. I will champion legislations that would strengthen our education and health sectors.
The vibrant Senate hopeful also promised that when voted into power he would fix hospitals for proper healthcare delivery to the people of Owerri Senatorial Zone, bring in Toyota Plant into Nigeria to enhance the country’s economy and also recover the lands of some communities in Owerri especially that of Obibi Ezena in Owerri North Council, which he regretted were grabbed by the Imo/Anambra River Basin, among others.
In the area of Sports, the senatorial candidate promised to reposition sports by handing sports over to professionals in the zone, which will encourage them to produce other great sportsmen and women in the zone and reduce unemployment.
According to him, the people of the zone are notable to have produced great sports personalities like first Nigeria Olympic Gold Medalist, ACP Chioma Ajunwa Opara; Dream Team captain, Kanu Nwankwo and Kelechi Iheanacho.
He promised to support the sports sector in the zone to make them more competitive and meet up with the modern day reality as this will be a good development for sports stakeholders in the zone who have been looking for ways to demonstrate their skills.
The above and more said by Barrister Chyma Anthony Odiuko, earned him the confidence of his people as the most competent candidate among others for Owerri senatorial seat.
The analysts also observed that Odiuko kept to the time of the Town Hall, he was very polite and thoughtful in the delivery of his address to Impolites even when other candidates were flaunting their rascality and pride.
